Service is available to physicians in any county in Kansas except Douglas, Johnson, Sedgwick, Shawnee, and Wyandotte.

To request service, a rural physician or hospital should complete a Service Order Form and submit it to Rural Health Education and Services. This needs to be done each time service is requested. Please submit the form six weeks in advance of the date the service is needed.

Once Rural Health receives the Service Order Form from the rural physician, Rural Health will work to locate a Locum Tenens provider from the faculty and resident physicians at the University of Kansas School of Medicine (all campuses). When a provider for the service is identified, a contractual agreement is signed.

Fee Schedule

Locum Tenens services are reimbursed at the coverage rates listed below, in addition to travel time at the rate of $40 per hour, mileage (at the State rate), and lodging expenses.

Weekday (8-hour day) rate:	$	600
Overtime per hour over 8 hours per day: (prorated in ½ hour intervals)	$	80
Weekday night call rate per night:	$	80
Weekend call rate per day (24 hours):	$	440
Holiday with no scheduled hours:	$	540
Weekend/holiday hourly rate for time worked: (prorated in ½ hour intervals)	$	80
OB delivery (per delivery)	$	200

Upon completion of Locum Tenens services, the rural physician or hospital will receive an invoice which will include information as to whom the check should be made payable.
