Kansas Bridging Plan Deadline Approaching
The December 31st deadline for first- and second-year residents to participate in the Kansas Bridging Plan is quickly approaching. Resident physicians in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or med peds, are eligible for loan forgiveness through the Kansas Bridging Plan, in exchange for a 36 month commitment to serving rural Kansas. Interested resident physicians can apply either in the Rural Health office or on the Rural Health Web site at http://ruralhealth.kumc.edu. Kansas Recruitment Center Welcomes New Placement
The Kansas Recruitment Center (KRC) is pleased to announce two placements for rural Kansas. Holton Community Hospital, Holton, Kan, and Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, Seneca, Kan. will add a family physician each to their team of health care professionals. Kansas Locum Tenens Accepting 2007 Coverage Requests
Kansas Locum Tenens is now accepting service requests for 2007. Interested physicians or organizations may submit a Service Order Form to Rural Health Education and Services to initiate the service. Rural Health Attended Kansas Hospital Association Conference
Rural Health staff exhibited at the Kansas Hospital Association (KHA) conference in Topeka, Kan., on Nov. 14 -16, 2006. This conference provided an opportunity to showcase programs and services offered through the Rural Health office.

Rural Health staff exhibited at the 2006 KUMC Physical Therapy Career Fair, Nov. 16, 2006. Exhibiting to physical therapy students, staff had the opportunity to showcase the services provided through the Kansas Recruitment Center.
Family Medicine Winter Symposium

KRC Exhibits at MINK
The Kansas Recruitment Center (KRC) has taken advantage of the Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas (MINK) Physician Recruitment and Retention Network membership once again. KRC staff exhibited in Omaha, Neb., Nov. 16-17; St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 18; and Columbia, Mo., Oct 19. Kansas Career Opportunities a success!

Rural Health would like to thank everyone who participated in the Kansas Career Opportunities (KCO) events at KUMC in Kansas City and at KUSM-W in Wichita. In Kansas City, the event attracted 181 attendees and the Wichita event attracted 103 attendees.
Congratulations to Geary Community Hospital, Junction City, Kan., and Mercy Regional Health System, Manhattan, Kan. Both organizations were grand prize drawing winners and will receive a free booth at the 2007 KCO event.
We appreciate your support and look forward to another great event next year!
Rural Health Staff Member Receives Ally Award
Lauren Lambert, writing and marketing coordinator, received the Ally Award at the University of Kansas External Affairs holiday retreat for her superior work on projects that go beyond her usual work load. Recently, Lambert completed extensive work on the External Affair Annual report. RHES would like to thank Lambert for her hard work; she is an invaluable part of the team.
