Rural Health Receives Contract for Dental Recruitment Research
United Methodist Health Ministry Fund awarded Rural Health Education and Services a contract to conduct a dental assessment research project. Rural Health will research the need to recruit dentists and dental hygienists for Kansas. For more information, contact Joyce Tibbals, jtibbals@kumc.edu.
Rural Health Launches Kansas Medical Resources
Kansas Medical Resources (KMR), a new program offered by Rural Health Education and Services, will provide locum tenens services to physicians and communities in specialties such as radiation/oncology, ob/gyn, psychiatry and other specialty areas.
KMR is also expanding the pool of physicians who can provide temporary coverage to include recent residency program graduates, retired doctors, as well as doctors who are currently in practice and looking for some additional experience.

Kansas Recruitment Center Welcomes New Placements
The Kansas Recruitment Center (KRC) is pleased to announce two placements for rural Kansas. The Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kan., will receive an internal medicine physician, and Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kan., will add a pediatrician to their staff. To date, KRC has assisted in placing 37 health care providers in rural communities across the state. For more information about KRC, contact Joyce Tibbals, jtibbals@kumc.edu.

Kansas Recruitment Center Welcomes New Recruiter
Lauren Lambert has joined the Kansas Recruitment Center staff as senior recruitment coordinator. Lauren has served Rural Health Education and Service as writing and marketing coordinator and has worked closely with members of the KRC team. Lauren will be a great addition. Rural Health Attended Wichita State University Career Fair
Rural Health Education and Services (RHES) staff exhibited at the Wichita State University Career Fair, Wichita, Kan, on Feb. 5, 2007. The career fair attracted numerous nursing, physical therapy, and allied health care students and provided the opportunity for RHES staff to highlight career opportunities in Kansas.

Rural Health to Launch 39th + Rainbow Web
The University of Kansas Medical Center has released a new publication, 39th + Rainbow, to interested community leaders, alumni and staff. The publication, designed to be the “intersection of opportunity and ingenuity,” provides readers an insight into the University of Kansas Medical Center. The first issue, the Cancer Issue, is now available and can be mailed to interested constituents. The publication’s Web site, http://39rainbow.kumc.edu, developed by Rural Health staff, includes articles from the publication, as well as additional articles, features, and contact information. 2006 External Affairs Annual Report
The University of Kansas Medical Center, External Affairs division is integral in addressing health care needs throughout the state. The 2006 Annual Report highlights the division’s commitment to serving Kansas and includes numerous features and program details. It is a valuable publication in increasing an understanding of the role External Affairs plays within the state and KUMC as a whole.
