Kansas Recruitment Center Welcomes New Placements

The Kansas Recruitment Center (KRC) is excited to announce the latest placements in Rural Kansas.

The Kansas Recruitment Center is excited to announce the placement of Elizabeth Warman, PA, to Ellinwood District Hospital. Liz recently completed her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Neb. She has family in Kansas and is looking forward to joining the organization and community. This is KRC's first placement of the year!

The KRC is pleased to also announce the placement of Gretchen Homan, MD, pediatrician, to Cottonwood Pediatric Group, Newton, Kan. Dr. Homan recently completed her residency at the University of Kansas, and is a KMS scholarship recipient. She began practice Dec. 31, 2007 and is settling in quite well.

To date, the KRC has been integral in the placement of 46 health care providers to rural Kansas. For more information about KRC, contact Lauren Lambert, llambert2@kumc.edu.


Oral Health Kansas Advocacy Day

On Jan. 29, the Rural Health Education and Services (RHES) staff took a trip to Topeka, Kan. to attend the Oral Health Kansas Advocacy Day. A variety of topics were discussed including a new report entitled "Health Reform in Kansas: Options for Adding Dental Benefits" by the National Academy for State Health Policy and an update on dental hubs by the Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved.


KU in the Capitol

KU in the Capitol will be held March 10 in Topeka, Kan. The University of Kansas Medical Center RHES will be among several of the KU programs exhibiting to policy makers and other state officials. The event is carried out in an effort to showcase how KU works for Kansas. For more information, contact Lorene Valentine at lvalenti@kumc.edu.


Nurses Career Options Day

The Kansas Recruitment Center staff exhibited at the Nurses Career Options Day on Jan. 26 at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City. Nursing students from the entire metro area, as well as across Kansas and Missouri, were invited to attend. This provided the KRC staff with the opportunity to share their recruiting services and present opportunities for nursing students in the Kansas and Missouri area.


Andee Ellis Has Baby Boy!

Andrea (Andee) Ellis, assistant director, RHES, gave birth to a baby boy on Jan. 17. Brady Michael Ellis was 8 lbs. 6.2 oz. and 21 ½ inches long. Congratulations to both Andee and her husband, Derek! Andee will return from maternity leave in April. During her absence Marinn Rank will continue to fill temporary coverage requests for Kansas Locum Tenens and Kansas Medical Resource. Wichita State University Career Fair

RHES staff exhibited at the Wichita State University Health Professions Career Fair on Feb. 11, 2007 in Wichita, Kan. The career fair attracted numerous nursing, physical therapy and allied health care students, and provided the opportunity for RHES staff to highlight career opportunities in Kansas.


MINK Career Fair

KRC staff attended the MINK career fair on Thursday, Feb. 7 in Columbia, Mo. The career fair allowed KRC staff the chance to present opportunities with residents and medical students at the University of Missouri -- Columbia.
