Kansas Locum Tenens Program Welcomes Two New Clients

We would like to welcome Jewell County Hospital and Rural Health Clinic, Mankato, Kan., and the family medicine office of Bryan Davis, MD, Winfield, Kan., to the Kansas Locum Tenens program. Jan Arbuckle, Associate Dean UKSM-W, presents Marinn Rank with Jay Star Award
Rural Health Staff Member Receives Jaystar Award

Marinn Rank received the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita Jaystar Award for her continued dedication and commitment to Rural Health. In addition to her own responsibilities, she assumed the duties of the office coordinator for approximately three months. Her willingness to take on this additional role without hesitation, make her worthy of the award and a valuable member of the RHES team. Thank you Marinn!

Kansas Recruitment Center Welcomes Four New Placements!

The Kansas Recruitment Center (KRC) is pleased to announce the placement of Dr. Alex Curiel, family physician, at New Frontier Services, Oakley, Kan. Curiel will begin his practice in July 2007 after finishing his KU residency program.

KRC is also happy to announce the placement of Dr. Charles Zerr, internist, who began his practice in April at New Frontier Services, Oakley, Kan.

Dr. Amy Hogan, family physician, was placed as a result of the efforts of KRC. Hogan will begin her practice with Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kan., in January 2007 after the completion of her residency at KU School of Medicine-Wichita.

KRC is also happy to announce its placement of Dr. Norman Petty, emergency medicine physician, with Labette County Medical Center, Parsons, Kan. Petty will begin his practice June 2006. Petty relocated from Wyoming.

KRC Staff Presented to the Northwest Critical Access Hospitals

The Kansas Recruitment Center staff presented "Best Recruitment Practices," to the Northwest Critical Access Hospital meeting in Hays. Rural Health Education and Services will host a recruitment workshop entitled, "Maximizing Your Recruitment Efforts: From Ideas to Action," on Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at the Grand Prairie Hotel and Convention Center, Hutchinson, Kan. The workshop will address several topics relating to the successful recruitment and retention of health care providers. Look for more information to arrive soon! Andrea Ellis
National Rural Health Association Annual Conference Presentation

Andrea Ellis presented “A Win-Win Program: Locum Tenens,” at the National Rural Health Association Annual Conference in Reno, Nev., on May 19. The presentation was delivered in an effort to educate others in establishing and operating a program similar to Kansas Locum Tenens and to discuss the benefits of this program in aiding in recruitment.
