The Kansas Career Opportunities events will be held at the KU Medical Center – Kansas City, October 26, 2006, and at the KU School of Medicine - Wichita on November 9, 2006. This is a great opportunity for residents and students to meet representatives from rural Kansas communities.
Attend Kansas Career Opportunities at the KU School of Medicine – Wichita, November 9th and join us for a panel discussion, entitled "Scoring with Your Community," designed to allow physicians, medical students, and resident physicians the opportunity to address questions and concerns surrounding the interview process, living in a rural community, etc. The Kansas Recruitment Center will also present "Acing the Interview," a one-hour discussion for students interested in enhancing their interview skills.

Kansas Locum Tenens Program Reports Coverage
The Kansas Locum Tenens program had another record breaking year! From July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006, the program provided 512.5 days of temporary coverage for organizations in rural Kansas. We would like to thank the residents, fellows, and faculty for all your hard work this past fiscal year, as well as the communities in rural Kansas who use our services. Kansas Bridging Plan Deadline Approaching
The December 31st deadline for first and second year residents to participate in the Kansas Bridging Plan is quickly approaching. Resident physicians in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or med peds, can apply either in the Rural Health office or on the Rural Health Web site. KRC Provides Consultation to Iowa
Joyce Tibbals, assistant director, Rural Health Education and Services, provided consultation services to the Iowa Collaborative Safety Net Provider Network, on August 30 – 31, 2006. Joyce’s experience in health care recruitment provided a unique insight for the organization as they move forward with their health professional recruitment initiative. Joyce shared current and potential resources for the organization’s initiative, elements of a health professional recruitment program, potential costs of a new recruitment program, and developing a plan of action for the initiative. Fort Hays State University Career Fair
Rural Health Education and Services staff exhibited at the Fort Hays State University Career Fair, Fort Hays, Kan., on Sept. 20, 2006. Rural Health Attended KMGMA Conference
Rural Health staff exhibited at the Kansas Medical Group Management Association (KMGMA) conference in Overland Park, Kan., on September 21 – 22, 2006. Exhibiting to physician practice managers, this conference provided an opportunity to showcase programs and services offered through the Rural Health office. Maximizing Your Recruitment Efforts Workshop a Success

Thirty-four administrators and recruitment personnel of health care organizations in rural Kansas gathered for the "Maximizing your Recruitment Efforts workshop," on September 20, 2006. The workshop focused on the elements, techniques, and challenges surrounding the recruitment of health care professionals to rural Kansas. Participants received insight into numerous topics, and the workshop received positive feedback. Thanks to all that participated!
KRC Exhibits at MINK
The Kansas Recruitment Center (KRC) has taken advantage of the Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas (MINK) Physician Recruitment and Retention Network membership, through exhibitions in Kansas City, on September 14, and in Wichita on September 21, 2006. Both career fairs provided staff with the opportunity to represent KRC clients for recruitment of physicians.
